This multi-storey court facility for the Ministry of the Attorney General is comprised of a fully renovated existing building of heritage value and a new addition.  It contains a state-of-the-art courtroom & motions room as well as Ministry of Attorney General offices, public access, and holding cells. The total project is comprised of 1550 m2 of building area, including 1086 m2 of new construction.  The building features multiple security access features and technologies, fire safety features, UD barrier-free access including lifts, specific ventilation requirements, and durable finishes. Site work features new barrier-free ramp access, on-site parking and landscaping features that promote occupant safety.  Renovation work includes intensive intervention within the original structure.  This project was designed by a multi-disciplinary team for Leadership in Environmental Design (LEED™) certification.

       

Construction Summary: 

Reinforced concrete and concrete block, structural steel, brick and granite exterior finishes

 Multi-zoned/differential pressure ventilation system for air quality control

Security systems include: CCTV, electronic & mechanical digital keypads, panic alarms.
